Domaine du Rome
Herve Baudy, fifth generation winegrower, runs this estate which has vineyards in three areas of the appellation Sancerre. The soil range from red clay with limestone to mark and silex as well as clay and white stones called “Caillottes.” The vineyards cover about 30 acres planted 80% in Sauvignon Blanc and 20% in Pinot Noir. The wine is racked during the winter, then blended in order to reunite all the qualities brought by the various soils from which they come. After light filtering they are bottled in the spring. Bottles are rested for 3 months in order for the bouquet and fruit to express themselves to the fullest. Check with Siema office for current vintages
