Lazio

Lazio, the region centered around Rome, is historically most associated with white wines. The ever-popular, though somewhat enigmatic Frascati has been grown in the countryside surrounding the capital for thousands of years. In modern times, the more international red grapes Merlot and Cabernet have found a place in the region, but indigenous varietals such as Cesanese are also used to make some especially unique wines.
