Located in the Valdarno region at the foothills of the Pratomagno mountains, the estate enjoys a highly privileged position with optimal viticultural conditions. The soil was modelled by the movements of the lakes which covered the area millions of years ago. These origins have strongly influenced both the composition and the shape of the area, geographically and topographically. All of these aspects played an important role when in 1993 the oenologist Nicolò D’Afflitto, after extensive soil analysis, uprooted the old vineyards and selected vines best suited to the soil’s characteristics.
Today they have 45 hectares of vineyards, all of which are situated between 300 and 500 metres above sea level, where each varietal has found its ideal terrain. The varietals Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot are cultivated at 300 metres above sea level, while the Sangiovese has been planted at a height of 350 metres. At the highest altitude, Chardonnay is cultivated at 500 metres above sea level.
