Bordeaux
Little needs to be explained about Bordeaux’s place in the wine world. With Italy’s Piedmont and Spain’s Rioja, it stands as one of the great wine regions of the old world. The noble red grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot are native to the area. Sémillion and Sauvignon Blanc make up most of the white blends. The region is carved up by two two rivers, the Garonne and the Dordogne, which define its terroir. While the Grands Chateaux conjure up images of Rolls Royces and silver platters, there are also countless small producers throughout the region who are more farmers than entertainers. Along the lines of the latter is our producer, Chateau La Gatte.
