Vino 50

Brainchild of Sommelier Andrew Stover of Washington, DC’s OYA and SEI Restaurants, Vino50 is both a wine brand and wholesale portfolio that celebrates American winemaking at its best, with a focus on eclectic and unknown American wine regions. Vino50 encourages consumers to explore local and regional wines supporting America’s up and coming and established winemakers. By contracting with small, boutique wineries, Vino50 brings to market unique wines that not only have a sense of place but also showcase unknown varietals and regions of the United States such as Arizona, Idaho, Long Island, Michigan, Rhode Island and beyond.

Shindig White

Shindig White is a co-production project with Andrew Stover and Alie Shaper of Brooklyn Oenology. The wine is made from 80% Vidal Blanc, a French-American hybrid that is bred from Trebbiano, and 20% Riesling. Like Riesling, Vidal has a high acidity level and tropical notes, so the resulting wine here is reminiscent of a very crisp Sauvignon Blanc, or of Gruner Veltliner. There are flavors of citrus, green apple, pineapple, a little slate and ginger, and pretty botanical notes. Shindig is thirst-quenchingly perfect for scallops, sushi, and salads.
