About Big Cork Vineyards

Nestled on 100 rolling acres in Maryland’s Pleasant Valley, Big Cork Vineyards currently has 35 acres under vine and grows 16 varietals. Founded in 2010, the vineyards is owned by J. Randall Thompson, Jennifer Thompson and David Collins. Collins also serves as the winemaker and has a long career of producing award-winning wine for several prominent Virginia wineries

Big Cork Vineyards has wine numerous awards in both East and West Coast wine competitions. Several of the most recent awards are:

* Best of Show, 2017 Maryland Comptroller’s Cup, 2015 Cabernet Franc

* Gold medal, 2017 San Francisco Chronicle’s International Wine Competition, 2015 Viognier

*Double Gold/Best in Class, 2017 East Meets West Wine Competition, Raspberry Port

* Jack Aellen Award/Best In Show 2016 Maryland Governors Cup, Raspberry Port

* Best in Show at the 2015 Maryland’s Governor’s Cup for its Petit Verdot

* Best in Show in the Maryland Winemaster’s Cup for its Chardonnay
