BRATANOV Family Winery & Vineyards is a dream come true due to the hard work and devotion of a father and his sons. Their honorable mission is to restore the ancestral tradition after an interruption of more than 50 years. During the period 2005 – 2008 on the sunny hills of South Sakar Mountain nearby the village of Shishmanovo the family planted 24ha of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Rubin, Chardonnay and Tamianka.
The varieties were selected after a careful analysis of the local soils and climate conditions. The analysis proved what the elderly people in the region already knew: the southern hills of the Sakar Mountain are one of the best areas in Europe for viticulture. The place is pollution-free as it is situated far enough from any heavy industrial production. Moreover, large parts of the land have not been cultivated for decades and the soil was clean of any chemicals. In the autumn of 2010 Bratanov family opened a small winery for production of quality wines. Thus the control over the whole process of wine production was ensured – from the grapes to the bottle.
Since 2015 the Head Winemaker of Bratanov is Maria Stoeva named “Young wine maker of the year 2016”. Maria graduates in city of Dijon, Burgundy, France in 2014, with National French Oenologist diploma, DNO. She has three campaigns behind her back in France at: Burgundy, Bordeaux and Chablis, fact that is visible into the wines that she produces.
