About Chateau Grand Traverse

Sustainably Farmed

Chateau Grand Traverse is a world-class winery located on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. At the core it is a family-owned and operated winery with a colorful and proud winemaking tradition. As 2nd generation producers, they are afforded the opportunity to carry forward the winemaking vision and maverick spirit that their founder set forth 41 years ago. It’s quite humbling to recognize that our combined efforts, decisions making and personalities are reflected in each hand-crafted bottle they produce…yes, it’s personal!

As growers of wine, they relish the fact that they are farmers first and make their living directly from the soil of their Michigan home. As winemakers, they can express the fruit of their labors in a regionally unique wine product. As committed stewards of the land, they also recognize the importance of the environment and their responsibility to provide for future generations. It’s more than just a business, it’s a commitment and lifestyle that they proudly live.

It’s been said that grapes like to grow where people like to live. The Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City is one of those special places in this world that affords us incredible natural beauty, abundant water and the ideal conditions for producing world-class wines. This is the place we are lucky to make their livelihoods, bring up their families, and raise a glass in thanks.
