About Bedell Cellars

Sustainably Farmed / woman owned / Natural, Low Intervention

Kip and Susan Bedell planted their first grapevines in 1980 and Kip earned the moniker “Mr. Merlot” in Wine Spectator magazine. In 2000, Bedell Cellars was sold to the Lynn family. Today, Bedell stands at the forefront of creativity and excellence in the modern American wine industry and is widely regarded as the benchmark winery in Eastern United States.

Bedell’s grapes are certified sustainable by Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing, the first organization of it’s kind on the East Coast. They adhere to a checklist of 200 sustainable farming best practices that have been fine tuned for Long Island’s climate over the past 30 years. Doing so has greatly reduced their use of agricultural inputs, thereby protecting our land and water resources for the future.
